Vincent J. Dooley Awards and Scholarships Nomination Form

Awards

The Vincent J. Dooley Awards are presented to one male and one female athlete in every high school in Georgia for their exemplary character and leadership both on and off the field, for the positive influence they exercise in their lives, and for the difference they make in the lives of others.

The Athletic Director determines the one male and one female recipient of the Dooley Awards for their high school. Those athletes will receive a plaque as recognition of this achievement. The AD simply submits the Form below without uploading file attachments by the FEBRUARY 28, 2023 deadline (one Nomination Form per athlete).

Scholarships

Additionally, the one male and one female recipient of the Dooley Awards in every high school may compete for a four-year $1,000 per year college scholarship when the Nomination Form below has been uploaded by the FEBRUARY 28, 2023 deadline (one Nomination Form per athlete).

To compete for the scholarships:

  1. The Athletic Director determines the one male and one female recipient of the Dooley Awards for their high school.
  2. The Athletic Director writes a one-page single-spaced essay detailing the athlete’s adherence to the Code for Living while commenting on:
  • training behavior
  • competitive behavior
  • relationships with teammates and coaches
  • response to victory and defeat

The nominated male/female athlete writes a one-page single-spaced essay detailing the athlete’s adherence to the Code for Living while commenting on the athlete’s contribution to society. Two pages of supporting references by one or more persons familiar with the nominees’ contributions and character may be included. All documents should be uploaded as indicated at the bottom of the nomination form. The student essay should be as detailed as possible, including but not limited to:

  • school extracurricular activities
  • community activities, names of charities and good works completed, etc.
  • results (number of hours, days given, money raised for charity, etc.)

The supporting documents must be uploaded by the Athletic Director before hitting the Submit button below (one separate Nomination Form for each athlete).
