Ms. Shriya Garg of Rome High School and Parker Miles of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School have been named as the two recipients of the four-year scholarship of $1000 per year at the College Football Hall of Fame on May 13th. These two recipients will also each receive $500 to donate to the charitable organization of their choice. Honored guests Barbara Dooley and daughter Denise Dooley Mitchell attended the ceremony, with Mrs. Dooley encouraging the student-athletes in attendance to follow the lead of the late Coach Dooley to always seek ways to serve others.  Georgia High School Association Executive Director Dr. Robin Hines also offered inspirational remarks. Ms. Heather Catlin of WSB-TV Sports served as master of ceremonies.

Our female scholarship recipient Shriya Garg achieved a 4.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale while taking an impressive list of AP courses. She is the school valedictorian as well as the two-time Class President. As a multi-year tennis team Captain, her leadership resulted in the Region Championship. Off the court, she was featured in a Forbes Magazine article chronicling the “digital divide” of broadband internet connectivity in classrooms across the country. Locally, she conducts awareness campaigns for the Affordable Connectivity Program which provides low-cost internet for eligible families below the federal poverty guidelines. She also logged more than 75 hours at a local hospital, teaching patients how to use their portal accounts.

Our male scholarship recipient Parker Miles achieved a 4.57 grade point average on a 4.0 scale while taking all AP and Honors Classes. His achievements include being a Finalist in the Governor’s Honor’s Program, and Co-Editor of the school magazine. He was Captain of the State Championship Track & Field Team, as well as the three-time State Runner-Up Cross Country Team. He also led the Golf team to the Area Championship. Off the field, he was named as the 2022 Teen Volunteer of the Year by the Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals for his work with the Kyle Pease Foundation for athletes with disabilities, where he personally raised $10,000 from more than 500 individuals.
