The Code for Living

The Code for Living is the foundation of ABW.  We hope that you will make it the foundation of your team, school, league and organization.  It provides a basis on which all coaches, athletes, parents and supporters can come together.  It also provides continuity for team after team, year after year as our young athletes grow and mature.  Together we can all be a part of “Winning More Than The Game!"

Life Principles Learned Through Sports

Because I am a role model and have the opportunity and responsibility to make a difference in the lives of others, I commit to this Code.  I will take responsibility and appropriate actions when I fail to live up to it.

As an Individual:

  1. I will develop my skills to the best of my ability and give my best effort in practice and competition.
  2. I will compete within the spirit and letter of the rules of my sport.
  3. I will respect the dignity of every human being, and will not be abusive or dehumanizing of anyone either as an athlete or as a fan.

As a Member of a Team

  1. I will place team goals ahead of personal goals.
  2. I will be a positive influence on the relationships on the team.
  3. I will follow the team rules established by the coach.

As  a Member of Society

  1. I will display caring and honorable behavior off the field and be a positive influence in my community and world.
  2. I will give of my time, skills, and money as I am able for the betterment of my community and world.

Life Principles Learned Through Sports

Because I am example for others, I will try to live by the following Code. When I make mistakes, I will say that I am sorry and try to do better.

As an Individual

  1. I will try my hardest in practice and in games.
  2. I will play by the rules.
  3. I will be kind to everyone, and will not call others names.

As a Member of a Team

  1. I will put the team ahead of myself.
  2. I will try to help everyone on the team be friends with each other.
  3. I will follow the team rules made by the coach.

As a Member of Society

  1. I will always try to set a good example for everyone who sees me.
  2. I will do my part to help others in my community and world.
