Taylor Swift and the Code

At the Grammy awards when Taylor Swift won the Album of the Year award she made a speech in which she said that there are always people who’ll want to take credit for what you do, or who will try to undercut you along the way. Don’t let that distract you, or slow you down, from the goal you are pursuing, and when you achieve it, it will the greatest feeling in the world, she said. (Many people interpreted those comments as directed at Kanye West who had said (ridiculously) that he was the one who made her famous.) How is this like your experience as an athlete? Are there those who believe in you? Are there those who doubt you? Do those people influence your determination to achieve the goals you set for yourself? The Code says, “I will develop my skills to the best of my ability…” How can you be a positive influence on your teammates?
