Stacy Lewis, JJ Watts, and the Code

Houstonian Stacy Lewis won the LPGA tournament on Sunday (her first win in three years) and promptly donated her entire paycheck to the recovery efforts in her home town.  JJ Watts, the Texans’ All Pro defensive end began a fund drive for $200,000 and is approaching $20 million.  The Rockets’ James Harden and countless other Houston sports leaders have stepped forward to take leadership in the efforts following Harvey’s destruction.  What this makes so clear is that when those we admire lead, others will follow!  Leadership is needed every day, not just in times of crisis.  Leadership can take many forms, but it begins with the desire to make something better – whether it’s a practice, a relationship with another player, or a community need.  Are there areas in your team or in your school where you think leadership is needed?  Is this something you can do, or do you need to approach others to help?  Remember the Preamble to the Code:  “Because I am a role model and have the opportunity and responsibility to make a difference in the lives of others…”  Let those who inspire you, lead you to inspire others!
